Computer Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI)

Computer Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI)

In Computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI), an interviewer uses hand-held devices like a tablet computer or laptop to administer the survey. These small, light devices are ideal for conducting in-person surveys at malls, amusement parks, movie theaters, airports, and other public locations. Our CAPI software is also ideal for conducting interviews in remote locations. The Survey System's Mobile Survey Software Module offers superior features for conducting both simple surveys and complex interviews with sophisticated logic.

CAPI provides benefits of routing, thus giving it an edge over PAPI. Routing and pre-programmed instructions help to design a flow of the questionnaire. Since the entire survey is electronically administered, the routing, skipping and logic checks can be built-in to the program. The time and resources that would have otherwise been invested on manual data entry are eliminated, since data captured on CAPI is sent directly on to the server. Also, the errors emanating from human intervention at the data entry stage are taken care of.
