Computer Assisted Web Interviews (CAWI)
Computer Assisted Web Interviews
Computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) is an Internet surveying technique in which the interviewee follows a script provided in a website. The questionnaires are made in a program for creating web interviews. Sometimes programming or scripting is done in such a way that it can also display pictures, or play audio and video clips, etc – depending on the requirement of the study. It can also be customized, so that the flow of the questionnaire can be controlled on the basis of answers provided, or may be on the basis of some information known about the participant.
CAWI OFFERS SEVERAL ADVANTAGES:
- Changes in the survey could be implemented very easily and quickly
- More affordable as compared to CAPI or CATI
- Length of interview is very short and easy for the participants
- Update on real-time basis and monitoring is possible
- Geographically, within very short time-span, interviews
